Cutting stroke risk is a stroll in the park

Excellent Article. For those of you who think you have to join a gym in order to get fit, a daily, leisurely walk in the park can reduce your risk of stroke. Have you taken your walk today?

Walk in the parkA daily 90-minute stroll in the park could cut the risk of a stroke by a third according to a study published in the November issue of the American Heart Association journal Stroke.

Researchers found that walking at least one to two hours a day was associated with reduced risk of a stroke.

However, the length of time spent walking had a bigger impact than the speed of walking and strenuous “power walks” did little to lower the likelihood of the disease.
